A sequel to Cloverfield is now in the works at Paramount.
The Hollywood Reporter has announced that a new sequel to the 2008 film is in development. Paramount and Bad Robot have selected Joe Barton to write the script for the upcoming film. JJ Abrams will also reportedly return to produce the long-awaited sequel along with Hannah Minghella of Bad Robots.
While there have previously been two follow-up films set in the same universe as Cloverfield (10 Cloverfield Lane and The Cloverfield Paradox), the new installment will perhaps be more of a traditional and direct sequel to the original film. The untitled sequel will also not utilize the found-footage style, which was a staple of Cloverfield.
