It's been a while since anyone's heard any news on Cloverfield 4, so what exactly is going on? Screenwriter Joe Barton, who was tapped to pen the film's script recently addressed questions about the status of the true Cloverfield sequel on X, revealing that the last he had heard, another Screenwriter was taking a pass at the script, however no named were dropped:
Prior to this update it was announced that Babak Anvari would direct the next Cloverfield movie in conjunction with J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot. The film will be a true, direct sequel to the first Cloverfield film.
Most recently we inquired whether or not the latest Bad Robot production Flowervale Street was connected to the Cloververse in any way. That film will be dropping May, 2025, starring Anne Hathaway, Ewan McGregor, Maisy Stella and Christian Convery but sports a different director and outside of our own speculation, has no other indications that it's related to Cloverfield in any way.
While news remains slow for Cloverfield 4, that doesn't mean the film is canceled. Production on Cloverfield movies have always been kept under wraps. As we learn more, we'll be sure to keep you updated!
