Things might be getting underway finally for the next Cloverfield movie. A new casting call has been supposedly uncovered for the New Orleans region this month (April 2026) and the untitled film is being described as a large-scale sci-fi thriller – suspected to be a J.J. Abrams project. The untitled project is currently looking for a variety of neighborhood residents, families and people with military or law enforcement experience. A full breakdown of the casting call below:
- Neighborhood Residents: Men and women of all ethnicities, ages 18-80, to play "upscale suburban residents."
- Military / Tactical Types: Individuals with real military or law enforcement experience for specific "event" sequences.
- Families: Real families (parents and children) for multi-day bookings.
The title of the project is unknown, as are any major details beyond what the casting call provides. So far, there's been no news on Cloverfield 4 this year, but we know the project has been in development and was recently acknowledged last year. As far as we know, the next Cloverfield movie – a direct sequel to the original film – is going to be directed by Babak Anvari with J.J. Abrams producing via Bad Robot and Paramount.

Some fans speculate that The End of Oak Street (formerly known as Flowervale Street) could be linked to the Cloververse (a result of the events which took place in The Cloverfield Paradox), but there's no official word on whether or not the connection is legitimate. Furthermore, we know the next Cloverfield movie was going to be a direct, true sequel to the original movie. The End of Oak Street involves a suburban neighborhood being transported through time or space to a place overrun by Dinosaurs, not the Cloverfield monster. While Oak Street could be another Cloververse entry, it's not THE next Cloverfield movie we're waiting for.
It also worth noting, Paramount currently have an upcoming event film titled Heart of the Beast, currently in post-production as well, but we suspect this is unrelated to the casting call obviously, given its post-production status. It's possible this could also be a reference to the next Cloverfield film and Heart of the Beast could be a placeholder title referring to the monster itself, but we're reaching at this point.
News on Cloverfield 4 has been extremely quiet as of late, but as with all Cloverfield projects, secrecy and discretion is the name of the game. As new details arise concerning this casting call and any new developments on the next Cloverfield film become available, we'll keep you updated!
